What does grunge look like?

Most often grunge is used to create some extraordinary and nonstandard design. It is characterized by using dirty blots and patterns, damp patches, sprays, splats, tag-rag images, irregular shapes, nasty and strange elements. Usually, some elements, which we used to see in our daily life, are met and modeled in their real forms without any digital gloss.

Irregular shapes
Such abnormal features are commonly used in order to make design look true and more personalized. Usage of these dirty elements and details defines a mood or scene, personal perception of the website.

Colors
Subdued, pale and dirty shades are met in grunge designs. Dull colors such as black, grey, brown and beige are seen often there.

Mixture of these colors with different textures, along with realistic things makes rather boring and monotonous look. On the other hand, the more vivid palette is applied in a grunge design, the less effective this design is descried.

Grunge style usage
Usually we can meet this style on band and music websites, along with urban lifestyle sites. It appears, these sites utilize rather free forms to symbolize and convey their artistic and nonstandard image.

To sum up, we’d like to mention, that in the hands of a skilled web designer, grungy techniques can become a part of a real masterpiece.
