July 22nd, 2011 New WordPress 3.2 “Gershwin”

Wordpress 3.2 did not take a long time to appear. WordPress 3.1 was released only 2 months ago, then latest patches 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 were issued. And as developers promised 3.2 version was released in the beginning of July. It has an additional name “Gershwin”(developers have dedicated this release to well-known pianist George Gershwin).

What was promised and carried out in the latest version?

WordPress 3.2 does not support PHP 4 and MySQL 4 henceforth. This version will require PHP 5.2 and MySQL 5 support from hosting provider.

Everything is cool and all latest web development trends are followed, but it is not very good for bloggers. Not all hostings updated yet and can provide such a WordPress 3.2 support.

Problems will be with cheap and one-track hosts. You can use this plugin to determine version installed on your hosting – Health Check and whether your hosting will fit all requirements of WordPress 3.2.

Nev version does not support Internet Explorer 6. The trend is positive in light of the continued development of browser functional.

But it is not so good for bloggers and regular users, because many people still use old versions.

There are some improvements in performance of the entire system and automatic updating of WordPress. Let’s see how the developers can realize the promise – “do not update the system, but only changed files.”

Updated user interface of admin panel – redesigned, advanced functionality of admin bar – added additional links for site management, expanded to full-screen editor, a new theme of the site template by default.

That’s all in short. There are still a lot of improvements, a complete listyou can find at WordPress official site.
