December 28th, 2011 Organic Style in Web Design.
Living healthy is a popular trend nowadays. More and more people are trying to be nature-focused and looking for themselves natural and organic products.
The same principles are seen in web design. There is a current trend towards applying so called “natural” style when designing asite. And what exactly features make a design an organic one? Well, it’s everything concentrated on environmental, ecological and biological issues. Organic web design is more about bringing natural elements into a technological environment. The more bio features are added, the more organic website will look.
So, let’s start analysing the peculiarities of this style.
1. Usage of the textures, patterns and natural backgrounds (wood, paper, minerals, cloth), as well as elements that come directly from nature (soil, grass, leaves, sand, and many other). All these features make website look rather natural and real.

2. Conceptual images which are nature-oriented: landscapes of clouds, fields and grasses, flowers, fruit and vegetables, etc.
3. Usage of abstract essences (colors, shapes, materials and brushes) that imitate nature spirit. You can easily apply earthy brown, burnt orange shades, deep grey-purple and olive colors, which can be rather gripping. Bright red and cobalt blue tones are also favoured. They can be refreshing when used with a muted color scheme.
4. Grunge effects, “dirty” elements and shades are observed in this style as well. Thus, design parts appear to be realistic and so called “living” or “lived”.
Organic style is widely used on those websites which are associated with environment and ecology, which deal with the manufacture of biological products or with nature. Also, websites of the institutions related to oriental studies choose natural components for their resources to underscore the adherence to the harmony and peace of nature.
