The XOOPS development team has announced the release of XOOPS 2.3.0 Alpha 3.

The 2.3 releases are to combine the two current branches of 2.0 and 2.2 and to build a transition towards the next generation of XOOPS 3.0.
The new features that will be available and supported as well as development direction of XOOPS 3.0 can be learned from this release.
The complete compatibility will be guaranteed; while modules written for 2.0.x and 2.2.x will work with 2.3; applications developed for XOOPS 2.3 will be compatible with 3.0 version automatically.
One of the specific improvements of XOOPS 2.3.0 Alpha 3 is user experience oriented backend interface enhancement which includes the introduction of control panel GUI allowing custom backend interface.
